Truck Mechanic/Technician
Job Responsibilities
- Perform effective preventative maintenance services on heavy duty trucks and Pilot trucks.
- Perform Truck inspections and diagnosis in addition to CRY Sheet submissions.
- Interpreting work orders, CRY Sheets, and technical manuals
- Mentor, develop, and support apprentices for future growth and development.
- Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in safe and responsible manner.
- Maintain open communication with the Shop Foreman, Shop staff, Truck Drivers, and Dispatch if required.
- Maintain communication with the Shop Hand and Parts Person/Shop Hand to ensure effective shop/yard maintenance and supply ordering.
- Maintain Parts Room etiquette to maintain functionality in accordance with the Parts Person/Shop Hand process.
- Assist in fault diagnosis and troubleshooting mechanical & electrical failures
- Complete required high-quality documentation, such as service work orders
- Maintain a clean and functional work environment; toolbox maintenance, work area cleanliness.
- Provide guidance to Truck Drivers on Truck conditions and performing minor repairs on the road.
- Additional AD Hoc tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Sound understanding and interpretation of safety regulations, safe work practices and work procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong stress management and time management skills
- Perform duties in inclement weather, with possible exposure to severe weather conditions.
Experience
- Qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic: Journeyman or inter-provincial Red Seal Journeyman
- Product and technical knowledge with knowledge of highway transport vehicles.
- Active CVIP License is considered an asset.
- Have the ability to deal with large volumes of work and stressful situations
- Engine diagnostics experience
- Minimum of 1-3 years experience in the medium/heavy duty truck industry is required
- Safety and quality minded attitude
- Class 1 License
- Must have reliable transportation to work.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual
- Knowledge of the truck equipment industry is an asset
